I have always been in awe of the night sky, and the beauty of it all. Like many, I was captivated by the recent eclipse—an experience that reminded me of the power of awe.
The profound sense of wonder, sparked by the vast and beautiful, not only lifts our spirits but also has tangible benefits.
Research shows awe can shift our focus off ourselves, and ignite creativity. It even encourages kindness, strengthens connectedness, and by stimulating the vagal nerve it can reduce stress, aid digestion and reduce inflammation.
And the best part about it is that it’s not some quick fix. The impact of awe can be felt for days after an inspiring event.
By simply taking a moment to appreciate nature’s grandeur, delighting in uplifting content, or sharing inspiring tales, we can all harness awe’s transformative impact – both for ourselves and for those around us.
So instead of waiting for another eclipse, seek out more opportunities to cultivate awe across all aspects of your life. The inspiration and sense of wellbeing could very well lay the groundwork for your next great innovation. If nothing else, your life will be enriched, and a better you means a better world.
Creativity is inherently authentic and true to itself. It doesn’t strive to conform or be something it’s not.
At the same time, creativity has the power to manifest in various forms and expressions, adapting and transforming into different ideas, artworks, or innovations.
The nature of creativity is limitless, transcending boundaries, simultaneously source and expression, noun and verb.
Both words share the same Latin root word which means, to breathe into.
Breath in, taste the shared air that has circulated across time and space to this moment, to your lungs.
What has the air experienced before it came to you.
Whose dreams did it enable? Did it come from a distant forest on the other side of the world? Was this air in an eagle’s lungs as it soared through mountains? Did it bubble out of the ocean from plankton photosynthesis? Was this air in the lungs of monks in prayer or is it mixed with trumpet air exhaled in a dark jazz bar in New Orleans?
What are your true limits when you know Infinite Source dwells in you? Embrace the vastness within you and live boldly.
You are the universe in ecstatic motion… Life, all Creation, lives, breathes, and pulses, and you are its unique expression. Dance with Joyful abandon
Set your life on fire… Burn away the dead wood of old habits and limiting beliefs. Ignite your passion and purpose. Shine your light fully and fearlessly!
So I was going to talk about creative tension today and I came upon a fisherman and it reminded me of something essential to the creative process, something that, dare I say is even more important. Something that works hand in hand with creative tension.
Each of us, at different times, in different ways, gets knocked down.
And while most of us are not confronting 1500 pounds of pissed off muscle hovering over us, sometimes the challenges of life can look and feel just as ominous.
You’re not alone.
Trust.
Believe in yourself, know the greatness you are called to.
While trying to photograph a hosta flower in the rain, the focus and lighting were less than ideal.
However, by turning the flower at an angle and using digital editing tools, something beautiful emerged from the imperfect initial photo.
We can apply this lesson of transforming flaws into assets to our lives and work. Rather than discarding imperfect situations, look for the potential beauty in them. Let your creativity flow in new directions, unhindered by preconceived limits.
Imperfections often lead to unique outcomes.
Pay attention to life’s out-of-focus moments, as they may become something special if given a chance.
